I live on a ranch northeast of Greeley, Colorado with my husband John, where we run 150 head of Hereford/Cross cattle. I have three quarter horses, three dogs, eight cats, and a little flock of chickens.
I have had a passion for art as far back as I can remember, selling my first painting of an old barn (oil on canvas) when I was 10 years old. With a degree in Graphic Design, I worked specifically as a graphic artist for over 30 years, adding fine art commissions to my studio works, after my son and daughter were born.
I work in all 2D mediums, as well as sculpting with polymer clay and gypsum plaster. I write and illustrate for children's magazines and books. I exhibit my paintings locally, regionally and nationally, having three paintings purchased for permanent art collections: "Posted" - Cheyenne Frontier Days Museum, "Shelter" - City of Greeley, and "Big Hal & The Horn Section" - Greeley Stampede Rodeo Museum. My public art installations can be found throughout the City of Greeley, including iron cast manhole covers, murals in the performing art center and on traffic-utility boxes (also in the city of Evans) along busy streets, as well as the City of Greeley's Farmers' Market trailer mural. In 2016, I designed the logos and other printed pieces for the annual Northern Colorado (Weld County) Cattle Barons Ball, raising awareness and funding for the American Cancer Society research and patient services. Most recently I designed the 55th Anniversary t-shirt design for Meals on Wheels - Greeley/Weld County.
Most of my art pieces are classic western or wildlife, but I like to add an element of whimsy every chance I get, especially when I can combine the concept of our precious wildlife and how adaptable they can be in the environment before them. I've heard it said, "Paint what you know"...I find inspiration in my everyday life. I'm fascinated with turning a brush full of cadmium red into the hide of a bull standing in a field, or a bluff under a western sky.
